This vinyl toy gives me the impression that this girl is ready for battle and to charge into the fray! I think this because of the stance she is in, her arms are in fists, and legs apart. Since her eyes are closed i think she is in concentration and looks mysterious. The character kindve also reminds me of a japanese person because of the japanese shoes and her kimono. Her hat with the swirls remind me of cup noodles and how they have those swirly food that you see in them, and the has has a "X" behind a headlike shape that looks like chopsticks. The bright orange and yellow colours are able to catch someones eyes.

This vinyl toy gives me the impression that this creature is ready for a battle. Its pursed lips and closed eyes tells me that it is in deep concentration.

The dominating element of design is shape. There are a number of
2-D shapes, partcularily the star-like pattern that varies in size, covering the kimono of the "lovable monster". The monster-like symbol, which is one of the focal points in this figure, located at the top centre of the monster's body, is also a representation of the element shape. Shape is, overall, the dominating element of design in this model because it is used to help tell the story of the monster and "bring it to life".Form is the main principle of design because it is what allows the monster to become a successful toy(3-D).
When shape and form combine, they help to create a story for this toy.I think that the story of this monster is the following:
This creature enjoyed part-taking in sports. It was a boxer (represented by the boxer-gloves-shaped hands)but also a devoted creature to culture(represented by the traditional south asian kimono). One time when boxing, its opponent injured it so badly that it started rebelling against humans (who were on his opponent's side)as well as its opponent. The
2-D image of the monster-like creature in the centre of the monster's forehead show that it is out to get its opponent(a monster) and the swirly circles on both sides portray movement in circular motions, hypnotizing victims.

*People would love this monster because although it is devious, it is so small and cute and wants to be loved!

This toy looks Japanese, and looks as though she will knock everything in her way if it is stopping her. The doll is not symmetrical but it seems pretty balanced. The doll's proportions kind of make it a chibi. It's head and it's body seem equal in size (specifically in length). This may not be so noticible but 1 of the doll's ear is bigger than the other. Some dominant features are her hair and the colours used. The symbol on her head (head with "X" behind it) seems dominant too.The doll seems like she is prepared for something and concentrating really hard. The colours don't have much contrast. The doll's colours and stance can really catch someones eye.

This vinyl toy, kind of looks like a zombie, because the eyes are closed, arms are out and the hands are in a fist form. Sort of like in those horror movies, but then zombies are slow and in in my previous knowledge Japanese manga characters are particularly fast and strong.
This toy also reminds me of a old show called "The Power Puff Girls" it is about these children and with a chemical called chemical X becomes super heroes with special powers. Thus looking at the X on the forehead. Also the power puff girls are children and relatively small, because of it's proportions, thus making the vinyl toy look like the lovable monster (chibi) we did.

This 'Lovable Monster' gives me the impression that it is ready for action and battle at anytime. To me, this toy is sending a message to me: BRING IT ON!

First of all, she is standing width her legs shoulder length apart, and her fist out in front, also shoulder width apart. This is supposing is the 'ready' stance. Her squinted eyes and pursed lips just emphasize the fact that she is determined.

Even though this vinyl toy may have a violent message, it is also, in some ways, adorable. In fact, there are many ways that this figure is adorable. The Japanese kimono she's wearing stresses the fact that she is Japanese. Her hair is bright red. This is a very unique characteristic. Her 'ears' are not the same size as each other, making her seem very cute. Same with her feet.

To me, the story is the following: There was once this Japanese girl who was very quiet and shy, until one day, her entire family was killed right in front of her eyes but an alien from another planet. Lucky, she hid well enough that she was not found and killed. However, like any normal person would be, she was very sad, upset and angry. With that, she spent the rest of her childhood learning kung fu. At times, her anger would get out of control causing her to have red hair. This symbolizes anger. She is constantly reminded of flashbacks of that horrible night. This causes many swirls in her head. In spite of that, the enemy is hard to find and is very sneaky. This Japanese girl trained her ears so that they are very sensitive to the surroundings. Her eyes are always squinted so she won't miss any detailed things around her. The chopsticks in her hair to hold up her bun are used as a weapon.

To sum it up, this is a very unique and cute monster. I am sure every one would adore it.

1.What are the dominating element/s and principle/s of design?
2.What do you think is its story?

1.The "Lovable Monster" still has a charisma to it that draws people, because of the overall balance it has. Specifically speaking, it has asymmetrical balance/informal balance. It has good proportion as well, and her body is rigid/stable so she won't be tipping over unless someone tips her over. The size of Trexi is not very large as small is cuter, so size isn't the dominant element. Since texture is readily out of the question, line and direction don't fit in too well. The 3 dominant elements of design are: Colour, Value and Shape.
Trexi is filled with many colours, but most of them light, giving off a cultural and lighthearted feel. Trexi's tone/Value is used a bit, as the colours can become darker or lighter at different places. Shape, as her clothes offer many shapes, and her body shape as well. For example, her real head, is an upside down semi-circle.

2. I think her story is not very tragic, as there aren't very obvious signs that her past was an unhappy one. Her culture is Japanese, and it seems like she respects it quite a bit because of her outfit. On her head, it seems like she is wearing a cup of ramen noodles, which is very popular in Japan. She looks as if she is ready to fight, because of the position of her hands.

This vinyl toy gives me the impression that the girl is getting ready for battle or is about to fight.I thing=k this because of how she's standing and her hands are balled into fists. The toy's clothing reminds me of a japanese person because she's wearing a kimono and that's what the japanese wear. Her hat with the swirls reminds me of hypnotisium and the two poity things at the top of the hat almost looks like ears, and the thing in the middle of the hat almost looks like a the back of an abnormal person's head with horns.

The clothes on this vinyl toy shows me that it is japanese because of the kimono and the shoes. It looks like it is ready to fight or battle anyone/anything in its path because its hands are balled up into fists.Although the texture of this toy looks smooth, the way her hands look makes it look the opposite way.The dominating element or principle of this lovable monster is the colour. The colour of its kimono and the hair/helmet/hat is red and yellow, which are both warm colours. The colour red can stand for anger or in chinese opera and music, the colours painted on the face of the actor shows the character traits, red stands for loyalty and bravery. The black that outlines of the hair and on the little picture on the hair/helmet are the focal points.
It's story could be that it is in a fighting competiton, and its not planning to lose.

This vinyl toy has excellent proportions and a very stable and smooth figure. Its clothing really brings out her face and hands by creating a contrast. The 3-D hands and slightly assymetrical figure gives it a realistic feeling.

Her hair is a bit puzzling to me for we can clearly see that the top half is slightly inwards with symbols on it as if it was a hat, but then her ear's are on top which wouldn't make sense if it was a hat.

I see this vinyl toy as a ruthless Japanese girl that's ready to fight with all she's got! I can tell this from her traditional Japanese robe, her solid stance, her out-of-proportion hands, and the chilly look on her face.

The way I imagined it, her story is that when she was young, her hometown was attacked and her family had all died to defend it,but their sacrifice was in vain and the attackers had conquered their village. She went into hiding, trained herself so that one day she could avenge her family and return her hometown into the peaceful state it had always been.

This vinyl toy, Trexi, reminds me of a warrior that is prepared for battle. It's eyes are closed, in deep concentration. The dominating element is shape, because there are different shapes on its kimono and on top of its head. The focal point of this toy is on the center of its forehead, the orange and yellow shape. I get the feeling that Trexi is Japanese because of the kimono she is wearing. I think that she has had a rough past, perhaps she had her parents killed, and wants to hide because her hair is covering her eyes, but she is still ready for battle. The closed eyes make me think that she is plotting, as if she wants to avenge her parents.

This vinyl toy, Trexi tells me that this girl is ready for battle. I think that the focal point is the red circle on her forehead with the yellow flames in the middle. The flames on her forehead give me a feeling that she has alot of anger bottled up inside. The position that her body is in tells me that she is a warrior, ready to fight. The fact that her eyebrows are also pointing upwards shows frustration. I think that she is angry inside because her family is lost or dead and she is trying her hardest to find them back.

This loveable monster is telling me that she is ready for war or probaly revenge. I know that she is wanting war/revenge because she is deeply concentrated. I don't think she is a monter because her skin is clean, somehthing also tells me that she is also meditating becuse of her closed eyes. If anyone would look at this figure the colours will catch their eyes. The figure is also cute.

By the look of this vinyl toy, it gives me the impression that she is ready for a long battle. Just by the way her hands are poised in to two fists close to each other and the way that her eyes are closed gives me the idea that she is concentrating very deeply to think of ways to seize the enemy.

This toy also reminds me of a japanese fighting movie because the toy is wearing a kimono and her hands look like their wearing boxing gloves and she also looks like she is wearing a helmet on her head. The spirals look like hypnotizers so I possibly think she can hypnotize people using her mind and the spirals.

I would say the focal point of this toy is the red organic circle on her head with two sticks pointing out of either side because it is a bright mix of colours and the first thing I saw when I looked at the toy.

This toy gives me the impression of the toy charging up her energy as she stand in that posistion. I can almost imagine the "fumes and intensity" of her charge as i imagine her fighting. She also appears very calm and ready, she looks like she can take on anything with her power. She has a jacket which has a big yellow belt that shows dominance, as been identified in many wrestling shows like WWE. The only message that I can here is, "Come Forward, if you ever dare!" She, to conclude the first question, is a very concentrated fighter and wants to win the battle. It will sice of it's fierce power, according to my estimation.

The dominating elements and the principle of designs are colour and shape. There could be some small texture as shown on the head but that would be very little. The color of this relatively small lovable monster is standing out very well. O would say this lovable monster would be really effective since of its elements, color and shape.

Her color is red and yellow, a very attractive combination is standing out. The color would drag attention of the viewer into seeing the shape. The shape is a very "structured" as in very strong. It cannot be beaten by force, no matter how strong. I would say this is an excellent shapeand is "indestructable" in any form or way.

To make known, this is a very strong toy in my opinion. I would say the principles of design are well done. I was caught since the color solely and I would obivously buy this toy any time since of it's unique structure.

From the looks of this vinyl toy, it is from Japanese backround and also is a girl. I think her hat looks more like the monster because her face is a disguise and once someone comes to close, it goes munch. It also looks like a fighter because of how she is positioned. It is 3-D,has a very fine and smooth texture and is put together very well.I think she wanted to be a fighter but her parents didn't let her because she was a girl. Then one day she train ed hard to show that girls can fight too. When she came back her parents were very angry and punished he but she killed her parents and so tries to teach people a lesson. If they laugh, she kills them.

This higly resembles chibi art we studied in class. Some features include that most of the facial features are in the bottom half of the face. Another thing is that in porportion it is around 2 heads.

In Terms of what the chibi looks like it looks like a samurai warrior? The Samurai looks like a female but it also could be a male.

This unique vinyl toy to me looks like a japanese fighter with its kimono and its shoes. The position this little monster is in looks like it is very confendent and is absoulutly ready to destory its enemy. Its hair is also very unique with its bang on the right side of his face partly covering its eyes, maybe its a special weapon used to help tp defeat its enemy. Its eyes and mouth are closed like as if it can fight with its eyes closed. The principal design in my opionon is the center of its hat/head the unexplainable shape on its hat. It seems like the designer focused most on its upper part of its body which it is its head/hat.In my view it looks like the yellow part is a part of his hair and the rest is just a set up for its enemy and also for distraction. The two sprials look like hynosis /distraction and to help it to lose consatration on the enemy.

The "lovable monster" that is shown is apparently a girl that is from japan, judging the kimono and sandals that she is wearing. She seems to be a fighter in concentration as if preparing for a fight, or battle. She does not seem too happy as if someone has done something bad to her or got her angry for some reason. The hat is creative and shows to have a back view of her head with chopsticks in shape of an "X", and two spirals on the sides as if to hypnotize her victims.

Her story may be that she wanted to be a japanese fighter or samurai and was not allowed or was made fun of and so now she wants revenge or vengeance.

By the way this vinyl toy is standing, she looks like she's ready for a fight! She looks japanese from the kimono, and sandals that she is wearing.

By the way she's positioned, it also looks like she's "charging" up her powers, with her fists to the ground, and her eyes closed. The 2 swirls on her head, look like one of her "secret" weapons, this weapon hypnotizes her opponent(s).

Her story goes like this:
Kira, was the best judo fighter in her town... or maybe even country. Nobody ever went pass her. So one day, instead of the towns people trying to defeat Kira, they all went to charge at her family, and so Kiras' family were eventually beat to death. Kira was then upset, mad... she wanted revenge!! Now, everyone she sees never makes it out alive. She has been abusing her powers ever since.

This lovable monster's dominating elements: I believe it's the way she is put together: Her stance (Says that she is about to go into battle!), her outfit (kimono), her face (looks as if she is deeply concentrating)

This lovable monster's elements of design: I think that the colors make her POP because of the really bright hot pink, it really makes her stand out. I think that the detail in the middle of her forehead looks like her "symbol" (Kind of like how Super Man has an "S" on his outfit)

This lovable monster's story: I think that her story is someone who is almost kind of like a female soldier. I feel as if she is during battle about to fight her arch nemesis. But, I question that because of the way her face is put together. It almost makes me feel as if she was hurt in the past and is in battle because she "has to". Overall, I think this lovable monster's characteristics are "different" because of the fact that is made me think of such a complex story behind it.

I am still quite puzzled at the way this lovable monster looks: The uneven ears and her hair is also quite odd. Also the spirals on the forehead are also leaving me quite curious.

Even though this lovable monster may look odd and devious, she still manages to look adorable! Well, I guess that IS how the whole "lovable monster" term is originated from. Haha!

I believe this lovable monster has great shape and proportions. It is evenly balanced out, and it seems to be very well shaped out.

To me it looks like this monster would like to fight! I say this because of the emotion it shows on the face. Also its stance is kind of in a fight kind of manner.

It looks angry, so I'm guessing the story is that she was getting picking on by a bully, and one day she got so mad that she got ready to finally use karate on this bully.

This vinyl toy looks mysterious and challenging, like its ready for a fight. It has warm colors only and looks like its on fire.

The story behind it might be like its a master of Karate (cause of the costume its in) that trained from ancient china, and the fists are say, "Dont mess with me!" and oneday its teacher got killed by someone so he became a monster trying to avenge his death.

This Toy makes me think that this toy always eats ramen that has the element of fire. It has a lot of red on it with the shoes which are from japan including the kimono dress also from japan. It also has a hat that has a sign that looks like a bowl and the hat is also a bowl with chopsticks and below it are some ingredients you find in ramen. I think that this character became a lovable monster because she was in an eating contest but she lost, so she goes crazy wanting to eat all the ramen in japan.

Some dominate principles of design is that it has proportion to become a chibi. It is made up of 2 heads. The accessories of the character can actually make a nice story all fitting in. The japanese culture is really in the clothes and hat.

I think this lovable monster is japanese because of the kimono she is wearing. She looks like a fighter or boxer because of her stance and her squinting eyes looks like she is concentrating very hard. Her hands are balled into a fist and is wearing boxing gloves. I think the story is that Trexi's dream was to become a boxer but the coaches don't wanna teach girls. So Trexi trained by herself and later when she became very strong, she wanted to get revenge on the coaches who regected her.

This vinly doll reminds me of a ninja, ready for battle. It seems that she is concentrating and focusing her mind and energy for an powerful attack. She is most likely from Japan, because of her kimono and the style of art reminds me of Japanese anime.
She has bright colors on herm, especially pink, but the pink on her doesn't create the effect of a cute girly doll, instead it reminds me of a tomboyish doll.
I think her story doesn't involve a lot of violence, but a lot of fustration and anger. I can tell because there aren't any visible wounds or scars on her, but the position she is in makes her look mad and it seems that she's ready for a fight.

the vinyl toy gives me the impression that it is a female ready for battle and is prompting her aponnent to attack first by looking confident and stand in such a way that makes her seem bigger than her oponent/oponents. her stance is,arms straight, hards in fists, legs apart. the clothing shows me that this monster is not only tough but lovableher hat with the swirls make me think that the character has some sort of powers. the colours are very eye catching, it was the first thing i saw on the page.

oh yea,the story.
i think that the story would not be very tagic because of the apperance shows that there is not a HUGE problem like i ave seen wth some ofour presentations in class.

lets say the name is kia. Kia was raised to be very polite and nice. but the first time she fought, she realised her passion for fighting and was deermined to master it. in the process she became a great fighter. her opponents would think shewould be very easy to fight but she would turn out to be the best female fighter ever.

she could have also been raised to kill and fight in war but was more soft in the heart so she stopped fighting for fun and only fought for the safety of her family.

I think the hot pink makes her look girly also it makes her look that she is on fire or angry. The symbol of her forehead seems like a secret symbol or to make her look strong. Her eyes seems like she is very furious.
The story:
She was the best student in that town(she lives). One day a random person killed her master. She got really mad. So she attacked the random guy and she beat him. But the guy wanted to get revenge, so he killed she family. She got sooo furious to get her revenge.

I think this is a vinyl figurine made to represent the Japanese culture and its traditions like wearing a kimono and sandles. Her dominating elements are her head and face because they show concentration or regret for doing something bad because of her closed eyes and tightly shut lips. Her hands show some anger and frustration withen her since they are huge and are closed as a tight fist. That also makes it seem like she is a boxer of some sort from Japan. Her story may have been somthing like this, Trexi was born to be a fighter. Her dad was the current world champion in boxing so she was destined for success. She had been training until she was old enough to join the boxing league. When she was finally old enough, she was turned down because she was a girl. She decided to take revenge on the boxing league and on all the males in Japan.Soon half the population was wiped out including her father. At that point the Japanese police decided enough was enough so they had her put to sleep.

the principles of design of this toy are balance(ears), repitition(kimono), and harmony(color). The dominating elements are color and shape. These two elements are dominating because the colors and shapes tell me the story of the monster and tells me who the monster is. The monster is a japanese girl bacause the color of the clothing and hair are colors which ussualy represent girls and the shape of the hair is a style which girls have more than guys. The chopstick shaped yellow thing on her head, the kimono and the small eyes tell me that she's japanese[I only seen a japanese person have these things(exept for when someone pretends to be japanese]. The spirals on her head and her closed eyes represents confusion. The angle of the eye and mouth makes her sad. There for I believe that the story is that a young japanese girl with blonde hair was outcased because she looked scary. She was so sad that she got her chopsticks and killed herself and came back to life to kill everyone but some how her hair turned pink and all her tearsturned to flowers. she was so confused to spirals came out of her head.

I think that this is a little japanese girl toy and it looks very shy, the reason I feel this way is because her eyes are closed shut and her head is down. Also there is hair in her face which also proves that she is at least a bit shy. Another thing is is that she kind of looks a lot like a fighter because of her boxing gloves and the way she is positioned in the picture.

I think the story behind this toy is that she wanted to be a fighter but she wasn't allowed to because she was to small and because she was a girl. Which gives me the impression that she's sad and shy

The vinyl toy has pose of concentration which is kind of like concentrating before battle. Its eyes are closed while the legs and arms are apart and moved to the front. Making the two tied hair at the top of the head sized differently makes it a little bit cute and a bit less scary and serious. That makes a balance like of the toy.the swirls at the toys head says that it is hipnotizing something i think there is three tied hairs because the top front head there is two sticks which means her hair is tied. the story of this toy is that she is getting ready for a fight and she needs concentration to hipnotize someone or something.

I think that the toy is concentrating very hard on something. It seems to be making a hard decision on something. It is very tense & rather angry looking.
